The most traditional surf tournament in South America, the Pro Contest, takes place at Praia da Cacimba (Cacimba Beach) with its tubular waves cresting up to 15 feet on its best days.
An official date has not yet been set for the 2011 competition, but it will occur, almost for certain between January and February, depending upon the wave forecast.
The leaders now want the Hang Loose Pro Contest to become a part of the WCT, the main circuit, starting in 2010. Thus, Fernando de Noronha receives the biggest names in sports.
